                                                                                Chapters of Anglican Manifesto

Please enjoy a brief summary of each chapter listed below:

1.  Anglican-Ism
The opening chapter of the book seeks to acquaint the reader with the basic elements of the Anglican Church that were present from the beginning. Once the groundwork has been accomplished, we will trace the ebb and flow of the various Anglican expressions down through time until we arrive at a portrait of the present. Understanding how the Anglican Church fits into the landscape of Christianity is an important beginning for further development of the thesis.

2. Paradigm to Paradigm
Western Society has periodically undergone times of major transformation that include changes in institutions, values, and beliefs. These paradigm shifts result in cohesive historical eras, which taken together form a historical framework for the West. A comparison with the previous eras with the current one enables the reader to understand the context in which we live.

3. Two Visions
Two very distinct understandings of what it means to be a Christian have emerged and are now competing with one another. In order to clarify the differences between the two, we must analyze the underlying assumptions and principles that reside beneath the surface. This is accomplished by tracing them back to their original sources and viewing the contemporary examples of each one.

4. Crisis
Conflict moves through various stages on the way to finding resolution. This is especially true in matters regarding the church. In the immediate conflict within the Anglican Communion, there resides deep theological divisions, which in turn are bringing about a variety of responses. As a result, a crisis has come upon us that has yet to find resolution.

5. Anglican Manifesto
This central chapter of the book focuses specifically on the problems facing Anglicans today, and proposes definite actions designed to bring resolution and move forward into the future. Anglicans have a historic opportunity to become a catalyst for the renewal of the Christian Church worldwide.

6. The Sacramental Principle
The various streams of Christianity have polarized around their own particular expressions, and often do not recognize the riches found in the others. In order to provide for wholeness and unity, a principle must be recognized which affirms and balances all the fragments together.  The foundation for such a principle of unity is available through an expanded view of sacramental theology.

7. Oneworld Era
We are currently living in a new historical paradigm in which the world has been functionally joined together as one. How will the church respond? This final chapter of the book will challenge the reader to recognize the new era that has come upon us, and consider the dynamic forces impinging upon the Christian faith and tradition.
